But we are not asking for a quid pro quo… the horrors coming from Pakistan…Lashkar-e-Toiba, the rogue operations from Pakistan. Indian Embassy will remain in Tel Aviv: Modi

Jerusalem:PM Narendra Modi has affirmed India’s traditional support for the “two-state” solution between Israel and Palestine and that India will support all efforts for a resolution, including on the contentious issue of Jerusalem, which Israel has claimed in its entirety since 1967. In the clearest position of India’s stand on the Jerusalem question, the PM said the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv would remain there at least until a “final status” agreement is reached between the two parties.“We believe in a two-state solution in which both Israel and a future Palestinian state coexist peacefully,” Modi said in an interview to Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. “India supports all efforts to find an acceptable solution to all the pending issues, including Jerusalem. I assume the question refers to our embassy in Tel Aviv. We will take a decision on that after both sides have come to an agreement on Jerusalem,” he said.Palestine’s Presidential diplomatic adviser repeated the demand for East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state, suggesting that Modi should discuss the need for the resumption of the West Asian peace process with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit, including need for a two-state solution on the lines of 1967 and giving East Jerusalem to Palestine as its capital.Responding to a question from journalists on Monday, Israeli officials, hoever, said that Israel, like India, would prefer to have “political process with its neighbour” to be “bilateral”. the hindu

NSA Ajit Doval, during his visit to Tel Aviv in March this year, prepared the groundwork for robust and more open ties between the two powerhouses in the fields of terrorism and security. During the visit, Doval met Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and his counterpart Brig Gen (retd) Jacob Nagel to further enhance ties between the two nations. 'It was during this visit that the 2 sides covered a lot of ground and moved towards coming out in the open with their strategic ties and do away with the veil of secrecy,' a senior govt official said. Israel has made grand preparations for PM Narendra Modi's stay starting Tuesday. In his visit, Doval extensively discussed the menace of terrorism that has badly affected both India and Israel and this would be the topmost priority in Modi's agenda during discussions with his counterpart in Tel Aviv. 'Both PMs have taken hard stands against terror and have always urged humanitarian forces to unite and uproot all forms of terror, extremism and radicalisation,' the official said. Top Govt officials said the visit would be keenly watched by terrorist groups operating in the region as they 'surely fear the closing of ranks of strong leaders in this direction'. Meeting comes after Modi's US visit where he met Donald Trump and achieved a diplomatic victory after US designated Sayyed Salahuddin as a global terrorist.Apart from defence and security, other focus areas would be trade, economy, security, agriculture, disaster management, irrigation and water management. New Delhi: Law Commission of India on Tuesday, while recommending compulsory registration of marriages, stressed on linking the registration to UID in order to achieve universal tracing of records.A report published by the Law Commission said, “Also, if registration of marriage is linked to the UID, it would be possible to achieve universal tracing of records.”The Commission also opined that the time limit to register marriage should be restricted within 30 days, thereafter inviting a penalty of Rs 5 per day. “The Amendment Bill should provide that if the Birth or Marriage or Death is not registered within the specified time limit, then the Registrar shall on the payment of a late fee, register the death or birth (a) within a period of 30 days (b) within one year, only with the written permission 36 of the prescribed authority; and (c) after one year, only on an order of a First Class Magistrate. It provides for a penalty of Rs 5 per day in case of delay in registration of ‘marriage without a reasonable cause’,” the statement read. Commission also suggested that the amended law would enable better implementation of many other civil as well as criminal laws. It would provide citizens, not new rights, but better enforcement of existing rights under various family laws that grant and provide to protect many rights of spouses within a marriage. This Bill would supplement the domain of family laws that already exist and is not aimed at removing, abolishing or amending specific religious/cultural practices and laws that are accepted under personal laws prevailing in India, the report said. Registrar, who is responsible for the registration of births and deaths, shall be responsible for the registration of marriages as well.ANI
Qatar Crisis: India Muslim Leaders Express Concern, Urge Peaceful Resolution
http://www.indiatomorrow.net/eng/qatar-crisis-india-muslim-leaders-express-concern-urge-peaceful-resolution
New Delhi: While expressing grave concern on some Arab countries snapping ties with Qatar, eminent Indian Muslim leaders have urged the Arab nations to resolve their dispute through dialogues. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt on Monday extended the deadline for Qatar to meet their 11-point demands for two days. They had snapped their diplomatic ties with Qatar during the month of Ramadan in early June."We express our deep concern and grief over the dispute among Arab and gulf countries," said Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, national president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind."We believe and are hopeful that the misunderstandings prevailing among Saudi Arab, Qatar and other Muslim countries would be immediately removed through dialogue and talks in the light of Islamic teachings and the environment of friendship and mutual respect would be restored like before,"Maulana Umari said.Dr Zafarul Islam Khan, former president of All India Muslim Majlise-Mushawarat expressed hope that the Arab nations would resolve the issue peacefully as they have done so in the past. "I think this is a temporary phase. Very soon we will see these kings and emir embracing and kissing each other. The Arab world has seen many such rifts in recent history, involving Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, GCC, Palestine under Yasir Arafat (when he supported Saddam Husain in 1991) and in all these instances the rift was papered over very soon while inner animosities and mutual fears remain. Even the boycott of Egypt after Sadat's unilateral deal with Israel ended very soon...Hence, I do not attach much importance to current crisis."Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam, General Secretary, All India Milli Council, said:"It is unfortunate." Navaid Hamid, President, Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat, said: "It is height of disintegration of Muslim millat." He added that this should not have happened at least "in the holy month of Ramazan when every Muslim extends help to others."Dr Syed Zafar Mahmood, President, Zakat Foundation of India, said that the situation is because people are "looking after personal vested interests up over community and even their national interests. They overwrite their community and national interest by their personal interests and they should come out of it."Most of the Indian Muslim leaders see a Western conspiracy behind the current Arab crisis and link it with US President Donald Trump's recent visit to Saudi Arabia. Dr Zafar Mahmood said:"There is indeed circumstantial evidence which will be acknowledged in any court of law. If it is investigated, then nobody can deny that Trump's visit will be counted as a circumstantial evidence." Maulana Umari said: "Imperialist forces, just for their vested interests, are creating rifts and provoking infighting among Muslim countries, selling weapons to them and occupying their natural resources through different means. There is a need to save Muslim countries from these conspiracies."IndiaTomorrow

Ahmedabad:The judge of a specially-designated court, which is hearing the Naroda Gam riot case, on Monday pulled up the Ahmedabad collector for submitting photocopies of the records of compensation given to the victims of 2002 post-Godhra riots, and ordered him to submit the original ones by Wednesday. Coming down heavily on the collector, special judge PB Desai termed it as “a contempt” of court and warned him of action if he fails to produce the record.“This is a gross violation of court’s order that amounts to contempt,” the judge said. During the last hearing, the defence lawyers had sought records showing bifurcation of the figures of the compensation, given to the victims, including Hindus whose properties were damaged during the riots. The court had ordered the collector to produce the original records. indian express

In the wake of the killing of Hafiz Junaid and the consequent Not In My Name protests, the National Campaign Against Mob Lynching has drafted a bill. They've called it the 'Manav Suraksha Kanoon' (MASUKA) and a draft is set to be unveiled on July 7.Congress leader Shehzad Poonawalla said: 'We are consulting people from a wide spectrum of professions for drafting the law. We want the law to be bipartisan and the Parliament to pass it. 'It shall apply to all states, whether they are ruled by BJP or other parties. In fact, we are in touch with several RSS leaders on the matter.'Poonawalla's brother's driver was beaten up by a mob under Malviya Nagar Police Station. 'He is Hindu. But this shows a broader culture of mob violence is brewing in the country and very soon, it would not be confined to religious identities alone,' he said.DailyMail

Kalyan: A cab driver with an aggregator service has lodged a complaint with Manpada police alleging that he was assaulted by two unidentified bike-borne youths in Dombivli early Sunday morning "for being a Muslim."Hafiz Zihauddin Siddiqui, who earlier worked as a maulvi, has alleged that the youths objected to his having parked his vehicle along the side of the road and started beating him up. "And when I screamed 'Ya Allah yeh kya ho raha hai' during the assault, I was thrashed further and an attempt made to target my private parts," he said. The youths fled when they saw a car coming up from behind, he added. He also said that the Manpada police station registered only a non-cognisable offence (NC) in the matter on Sunday. But when TOI asked senior inspector at station Abhay Kabdule, he said they would file an FIR in the case and would carry out a detailed probe. Siddiqui is a resident of Santacruz. He began working as a driver with the aggregator some time ago as he did not have any source of income for 6 months after he quit his job as a maulvi even though his wife was suffering from cancer. According to Siddiqui, at 1.20am on Sunday, he dropped a customer from Ghatkopar at Dombivli (W) and then got another customer for Dombivli (E). After having dropped the second customer on Manpada Road, he got an alert on his phone saying a woman customer had booked his cab from that spot. He said he had parked his car along the side of the road to wait for the customer when he saw two youths arrive on a motorcycle.TOI

Mumbai: Shiv Sena on Tuesday said lynching people in the name of cow protection was against Hindutva and urged PM Narendra Modi to come up with a national policy on beef. A string of such incidents have been reported from several states, including BJP-ruled Jharkhand, Haryana and UP, prompting protests. “The issue of beef is related to eating habits, business and employment. Hence, there should be a national policy over the issue,”an editorial in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ said.“Those who were safeguarding cows were Hindus till yesterday. Today, they have become murderers,” it said. In a tough message against cow vigilantism and mob lynching, Modi last week said killing people on the pretext of protecting cows is not acceptable and warned that no one has the right to take law into his hands.“We welcome the stand taken by the PM over the issue. Nobody has the right to take law in his hands in the name of cow protection. Lynching people is against the principles of Hindutva,” the Sena said.PTI

Dhanbad: The administration in Damuadih Advasi tola in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district has deployed a police contingent following tension after a tribal girl married a Muslim man from a neighbouring village.Agitated by the marriage, tribal villagers on Sunday sealed the doors of the house of the girl’s parents with barbed wire after the family expressed its inability to cough up 12 maunds (one maund is approximately 37 kgs) each of rice and mutton as fine for her ‘crime’.The tribals also threatened to ostracize the family and kill them if they did not pay the penalty.Village is about 60 km from Dhanbad. However, timely intervention by the police saved the lives of the parents and brother of the girl who had married Sabbir Ansari from a neighbouring village on June 30.Officer-in-charge of the Naraianpur police station Surendra Singh, who reached the village before the family could be lynched, said it took few hours to persuade the agitated tribal leaders who then agreed to remove the barbed wires. They, however, insisted that the girl’s family will have to pay the fine imposed by the local panchayat.Trouble started on June 30 when the news spread that sister of Jogeshwar Hembrom had married Ansari and that couple was living at the groom’s house at Lakhanpur village.Angry tribal leaders of the village met the family and sought explanation, terming the marriage as an insult to tribal society.
