Babri demolition day: Ayodhya still has 3 replicas of Babri Masjid
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/lucknow/Ayodhya-still-has-tree-replicas-of-Babri-Masjid/articleshow/55798506.cms
Ayodhya:As we enter 25th year of Babri Masjid's demolition, there are at least 3 structures in the temple town which resemble the historic mosque constructed by Mughal emperor Babar's general Meer Baaqi in 1528.These 3 mosques are smaller in size and believed to be constructed a few years after Babri Masjid. The first of these mosques, `Masjid Begum Balras', is situated adjacent to the pre mises of Maharaja Inter College, owned by the royal family of Ayodhya. "A madrassa is also run at this mosque," says Iqbal Ansari, the son of late Hashim Ansari, who was the first lititgant from Muslim side in Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit. The second, `Masjid Begum Balraspur', is situated in Darshan Nagar locality in Ayodhya and the third one -`Masjid Mumtaz Shah'-is in Mumtaznagar on Lucknow Road. All these mosques are very much functional and hold regular namaz. "Near Masjid Begum Balraspur, there is a mazaar of the same period. People believe that it's Mir Baaqi's mazaar," says Ansari. "Anybody who has seen the Babri Masjid can instantly identify that these mosques are smaller replica of that imposing structure," says Faraz Ahamd, a local writer, adding "Babri Masjid was a famous structure of its time inspiring others to copy it. Just like Babri Masjid, these mosques have no minarets, only 3 doms."Historian Roshan Taqui says, "At the time of Mughal emperor Babar, his army travelled all over India. According to some Persian writings, Mir Baaqi travelled to this part and got Babri Masjid constructed. Thereafter, more smaller mosques were built in same profile, where travelling Mughal armymen could offer prayer. There must be more mosques of similar structure in the region." timesofindia

2014 fake currency bust, claiming fake currency printed in Pakistan, Bangladesh: Police probe raises doubts, court acquits Rasmuddin, Nasirul Sheikh
http://indianexpress.com/article/india/2014-fake-currency-bust-police-probe-raises-doubts-court-acquits-2-4410540/
New Delhi: Raising doubts over the probe carried out by Delhi Police special cell in a suspected fake currency case, a Delhi sessions court has acquitted 2 men who were facing trial for allegedly smuggling fake currency printed in Pakistan from Bangladesh into the country. The special cell, which specialises in probing fake currency cases, had in Sept.2014 claimed to have busted an “international racket” with the arrest of two men, Rasmuddin Khan and Nasirul Sheikh. Special cell claimed it had recovered “fake Indian currency notes (FICN) printed in Pakistan with a face value of Rs7 lakh”.But additional sessions judge Reetesh Singh said, “Factually, the present case…is not free from reasonable doubt. The net result of the discussion is that the prosecution has failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.”Police had said they had received a tip-off about Nasirul, a resident of Malda, leaving Delhi to deliver a consignment to Rasmuddin, a resident of Mewat. Police had said the 2 were supposed to meet at ISBT Sarai Kale Khan, but they kept changing plans, and were eventually arrested on Sept.26, 2014 from old toll plaza on NH-8. Acquitting the 2, Singh said,“Manner in which the police team came to know about the constant change in venue of delivery of FICN is not free from doubt. There are no details of the vehicles used in the raid and no logbooks have been produced.”The court also questioned the prosecution’s version of “technical surveillance”, which had led to the arrests of the two men.“If it was the secret informer who was with the inspector (prosecution witness) and was in telephonic contact with some other person about the venue of delivery and its change, it is surprising that the rukka (investigation paper) speaks of ‘technical surveillance’ while the other witnesses talk about analysis of call detail records. This casts a serious doubt as to how the police team got information about the change in venue of delivery of FICN,” ASJ Singh said. The court also pulled up the special cell and asked why no attempts were made to join public witnesses in the cases. indian express
Demonetisation will be the end of Modi:Hindu Mahasabha
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/agra/Demonetisation-will-be-the-end-of-Modi-says-Hindu-Mahasabha/articleshow/55801241.cms?
Agra: Accusing PM Narendra Modi of being anti-Hindu, senior members of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha have said that the Centre's demonetisation move would be the beginning of the end of his rule. The saffron organisation alleged that the policy had been introduced just before the start of the Hindu wedding season while BJP members were encouraging Islamic banks in the country.Questioning the govt 's currency move, Mahasabha's national general secretary Pooja Shakun Pandey said the purpose of the scheme is yet not known. "Poor people, those who earn Rs 200-300 every day or those who survive on paltry govt  pensions, are the ones who are suffering. The move doesn't seem to have made an impact on the rich," she said in Aligarh."Besides, it was announced just before the Hindu wedding season. Thousands of families were forced to borrow money from their friends and relatives, some others had to postpone, curtail or even cancel the ceremonies. At the same time, leaders of the so called Hindutva party were busy promoting Islamic banking in the country," she said.Pandey was referring to Sholapur's BJP MLA and Maharashtra cooperation minister Subhash Deshmukh who launched the country's first sharia-compliant Islamic banking service in Sholapur in September. Alleging that Modi's "Hindutva" mask was now off for all to see, a Mahasabha member said, "Demonetisation would eventually lead to de-Modi-tisation of the country."Mahasabha's members also accused Modi of trying to garner support for "fake" surgical strikes.TOI

Ahmedabad: A little-known businessman who had declared a record Rs 13,860 crore under the Centre's income disclosure scheme surfaced in a television studio this evening and claimed he had been fronting for politicians and industrialists. Mahesh Shah, the Ahmedabad-based businessman who had earlier been reported missing, said:"The money I declared belongs to politicians, bureaucrats and businessmen whose names I will reveal to income-tax officials."Mahesh, 67, said he had declared the income as his own for a commission. "I admit my mistake, which I should not have done," he added.Minutes later, he was whisked away from the studio by tax officials and police and taken to a police station.Hours before Mahesh had surfaced, Suresh Mehta, ex-Gujarat CM who has left the BJP, alleged the businessman was close to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. But BJP dismissed Mehta's claim."Party has nothing to do with him (Mahesh Shah). No one in the party knows him," BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya told The Telegraph.Mehta, now an out-of-job politician, alleged that Mahesh used to arrange the auction of the gifts Modi received when he was Gujarat chief minister. The money went into govt welfare schemes. When one particular auction flopped, Mehta claimed, Mahesh himself bought all the items and then was reimbursed by the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank. Amit Shah was the bank's chairman till 2003 and continues to be one of the directors, Mehta said. But Ajay Patel, the cooperative bank's current chairman, told this newspaper he did not remember having paid anyone for any auctioned-off gifts that Modi had earlier received as chief minister. The Telegraph

But now, Himanta Biswa Sarma has threatened madrassa heads of Assam of taking action if they continue to observe weekly off on Fridays,” Ajmal said.He accused Sarma of breaking “all moral, secular and democratic barriers apart (sic) by saying that madrassas remain closed on Fridays in Pakistan and Bangladesh, not in India.
